Welcome to Romsey Singers.  We are a chamber choir specialising in unaccompanied music, with about 35 members, mainly from Romsey and south-west Hampshire. The choir was formed in 1968, and has continued to perform to a high standard in various venues.

We have at least three concerts a year. Christmas and Easter concerts are usually in the wonderful setting of Romsey Abbey, where the 12th century building offers a unique atmosphere and a fine acoustic for our wide-ranging programmes of sacred music. Although we concentrate on a sometimes demanding repertoire of unaccompanied singing, we are joined from time to time by orchestral ensembles and instrumentalists, as well as professional soloists. We have also joined forces with other choirs, most recently with the Romsey Choral Society, for larger scale pieces.   The second half of our very popular Christmas concert always consists of carols for choir and audience.

The summer concert, with a selection of unaccompanied secular music, aims to amuse and entertain audiences who can also enjoy a picnic.  We have held these concerts in a number of lovely gardens and private buildings, most recently the ancient barns at Michelmersh, which very satisfactorily keep off the rain.  This year we are taking part in the triennial Romsey Arts Festival.

Every year, in October, we have a weekend away and sing services in a cathedral or abbey church. This year we are travelling to the Champagne region of France to sing in Epernay, and are planning future trips to Worcester Cathedral, Southwell Minster and Gloucester Cathedral.

The main performances over the last few years are listed at Recent Events.

We are also available to sing at weddings and other occasions, by arrangement with the Director.
